Tacoma Rockets & Firestreak Youth Hockey offers ice hockey through clinics, team competition, and team hockey. The program includes Rockets Launch Pad (Learn to Play Hockey), Recreational/House Teams, and Tier II & Travel/Rep Teams for youth players. Team hockey is offered under Tacoma Rockets for youth and Firestreak for girls.

Tacoma Rockets & Firestreak Youth Hockey offers current youth hockey programs that include Rockets Launch Pad (Learn to Play Hockey), Recreational/House Teams, and Tier II & Travel/Rep Teams. Recreational/House Teams are available for Youth 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U, and anyone is welcomed to play on a recreational team. Girls teams are offered at 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U/16U, and in the event there are not enough girls for a girls team, they will be rostered to a youth team. Registered recreational players receive a set of game jerseys and socks, have two hours of on-ice practices during the week, and have 16 scheduled games within the MHL, with the option to compete in additional fee-based tournaments.
Tier II/Rep/Travel Teams are available for 10U Travel/Rep, 12UAAA (12UA1), 12UAA (12UA2), Tier II 14U, 14UB, Tier II 16U, Tier II 18U, and 18UB/High School Team. Tier II 14, 16, and 18 teams participate in the Northwest Hockey League, and 12UAAA, 12UAA, 14UB, and 18UB/High School participate in the PNAHA League. To play on a Tier II & travel/rep team, players need to try out for the team before the season begins and pay an additional tryout fee. Registered Tier II/Rep/Travel players receive a set of game jerseys and socks, have three hours of on-ice practice during the week, and may have fly away tournaments, and fees do not include possible tournament fees, travel costs, or lodging requirements for the season. Registered players in the program receive a set of game jerseys and socks, and players are able to compete in additional fee-based tournaments.
The mission of Tacoma Rockets & Firestreak is to teach the members of the community the sport of ice hockey, developing team play and individual skills through clinics and team competition by emphasizing sportsmanship, cooperation, fun, self-discipline, self-confidence, and respect for others. Tacoma Rockets also strive for the highest level of customer service to the membership to maintain and ensure growth of hockey in the Tacoma and surrounding area. Registration for the 2025/2026 hockey season starts June 1st, and a 2025/2026 USA Hockey number is needed to register for the season.
Tacoma Rockets & Firestreak Youth Hockey is part of PS Ice Sports, a non-profit organization whose home location is Tacoma Twin Rinks. PS Ice Sports’ mission is to provide the community with a premiere ice sports facility that will be positive and welcoming for all. PS Ice Sports currently supports Youth Hockey–Tacoma Junior Hockey Association (TJHA), Adult–Rainier Hockey League (RHL/RWHL), Tacoma Figure Skating Club (TFSC), Puget Sound Speed Skating Club, and Rainier Curling Club (RCC). Tacoma Twin Rinks will continue to be the home location of PS Ice Sport clubs and will bring additional ice activities such as Open Skating, Special Club Events, Broomball, and Private Event Rentals.
After 20+ years at Puget Sound Hockey Center, PS Ice Sports was forced to seek out a new home. On December 19th, 2016, PS Ice Sports established its new home at Tacoma Twin Rinks, and by January 2017, all club programs were moved there. Alces Media © 2017–2026 PS Ice Sports at Tacoma Twin Rinks.

PS Ice Sports committees include Learn to Skate/Launch Pad Program led by Christopher Weaver, Discipline led by Robert Cummings, Youth Hockey Managers Lead Tara Kaufman, and Rainier Hockey League (RHL) Commissioner Ryan Reed.
