About

Boys & Girls Club of the Yakama Nation Programs offers after-school programming and a summer program for children and teens. The program is part of the Boys & Girls Club of America organization as a nonprofit that works with youth living on and around the Yakama Nation Reservation. The programs are offered through the Boys & Girls Club of the Yakama Nation.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Price: After School Programming $25 per month. Summer Program $45 week for all day club programming.

The mission of Boys & Girls Club of the Yakama Nation Programs is to empower all young people, especially those who need the program most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible students. The organization states that, residing on tribal lands, it has the responsibility to carry the lifelong legacy, sacrifice, and tradition of its Ancestors to contribute to the lifelong success, enrichment, and wellness of Yakama Nation youth and future generations. It also states that it aims to provide a Club experience in which members are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. The organization notes that it seeks to work in partnership with all American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and American Samoan communities that choose to embrace Boys & Girls Clubs, while sustaining and respecting each community’s cultural values, traditions, and ways.

A club member named Mavis described the After School Program by saying, “This is my favorite place. I never want to leave.” Another club member, Ezra, described Family Craft Night in October by saying, “This is the best night ever!”
