Claudette Walker School of Dance offers dance classes in tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, acrobatic, lyrical, and musical theatre, as well as group and private lessons, rehearsals, and workshops. The program also includes adult tap and adult jazz classes.

Claudette Walker School of Dance was designed exclusively for dance education and has been in its current location since 1964. Claudette Walker is a professional dancer who began dancing professionally at age 9 and trained as a teacher under professional dancer Toots Johnson. After moving to the Northwest, she taught for American School of Dance before opening her own studio and has continued to teach and adjudicate for both regional and national dance organizations for Dance Masters of America and Dance Educators of America in locations including New York, Florida, Canada, Montana, California, Nevada, and throughout Washington. Claudette’s stated goal is to make everyone’s dance experience a rewarding and exciting one with positive reinforcement and a strong commitment to artistic integrity, as well as stressing the importance of good technique.
The program offers dance classes for preschool children through adults, welcomes recreational dancers as well as those seeking a professional level, and allows drop-in participation. Claudette Walker School of Dance has participated in local Pacific Northwest community events such as the Washington State Fair, Oregon State Fair, Cinco de Mayo, Hillsboro Happy Days, Rose Festival, Festival of Trees, St. Joseph Sausage Fest, and the International Food Festival, as well as performances throughout the city and county. The school has also been part of international performances, including 34 shows at Nagoya, Japan at the Formula II Racetrack and theme park and at a Japanese elementary school, performances in Athens and Corinth and on the Triton Cruise Ship in Greece, and performances in Cancun, Mexico at La Isla Village and Excaret Park, Chickenitza, and at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Claudette Walker School of Dance reports that it has been proud of its students’ achievements and awards in dance, including national awards such as Dance Educators of America Jr. Mr. Dance Las Vegas; Dance Educators of America National Jr. Teen & Mr. Dance; Dance Educators of America National Small Fry Jr; Dance Educators of America Miss DEA Las Vegas; DEA Choreography Awards in 2006, 2007, and 2008; LA Danceforce Choreography Award; Tremaine Choreography Award; Dance Masters of America Choreography Award; DEA High Score Regional Award 2009; Dance Masters of America Pacific NW Mr, Miss, Jr Mr, Miss, Pre Teen and Mr DMA; Dance Magic Choreography Award for Erica Burton; Dance Magic Stardust Awards and Championship High Score Awards; other high score awards; National Hoctor Award for solo, duo, trio, and group; and participation and awards at events including Dance Olympus, Tremaine Competitions, LA Danceforce, DuPree, NYCDA, Dance America Finals, Rainbow Connection, Sheer Talent LTD, On Stage, and ANDE.
