Evergreen Dance Academy

Evergreen Dance Academy offers classes in Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet/Tap, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Adult Classes. The Creative Dance program consists of three levels and focuses on gross motor skill development and coordination through movement to music, using a ballet- and tap-based curriculum that alternates formats each week. Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Adult Classes include a variety of dance techniques and choreography for different experience levels.

At Evergreen Dance Academy, the stated mission is that dance is about more than technique and includes confidence, creativity, connection, and joyful expression. The program offers dance lessons for all ages and skill levels, from toddlers taking their first steps to adults. Classes are described as high-quality dance education in a welcoming, encouraging environment where students of all ages feel supported as they grow both in and beyond the studio. The Ballet program is designed to challenge dancers at every level, Tap classes explore coordination, rhythm, basic tap steps, combinations, and terminology, and Hip Hop classes are offered in two levels that teach rhythm, musicality, coordination, isolations, attitude, and stage presence while learning various styles of hip hop. Jazz classes focus on positions of the legs, arms, and body along with a progression of skills such as kicks, turns, and jumps or leaps, while Lyrical/Contemporary combines the strength and line of ballet with the swing and power of jazz technique to train dancers in performance expression, versatility in technique, and fluidity in movement. Adult classes include challenging artistic choreography for adults who want that level of challenge. Students have chances to participate in recitals, workshops, specialty classes, and seasonal productions, and the academy serves residents in Vancouver, Camas, and Washougal, Washington, and Portland, Oregon.
