Gold Star Tutoring offers personal, one-on-one tutoring sessions that include academic support in reading, writing, spelling, and math. The program provides in-person tutoring, online Zoom tutoring, and specialized support such as Dyslexia tutoring, ADHD tutoring, home school tutoring, alternative schooling tutoring, and services for degree-seeking international ESL students. Students can receive help with subjects and skills such as Washington State History, decimals and fractions, basic math arithmetic, graphing and graph making, geometry, trigonometry, probability and statistics, pre-calculus, algebra, business mathematics, finance, calculus, SAT and ACT prep, AP test prep (including AP Calculus), standardized test preparation assistance, college placement exam prep, and ALEKS Placement Exam prep.

Gold Star Tutoring was founded in 2009 with a passion for serving students who might otherwise be overlooked in a traditional classroom setting. The program has a team of certified teachers and reading and language specialists who use a customized, Orton-Gillingham-based approach with multi-sensory lessons that engage sight, sound, touch, and movement. Gold Star Tutoring has developed its own language program with 5 different levels of phonetic advancement, supported by an Orton-Gillingham-based workbook and a full science-based workbook that includes accompanying lesson plans and a tapping hands graphic for each lesson. The program offers a quiet, safe, comfortable, judgment-free zone and welcomes students of all backgrounds, including home schooled, private school, foreign exchange students, and degree-seeking international ESL students, and works alongside parents, guardians, and schools. Online scheduling is open, becoming a Gold Star Student is described as simple, the first online tutoring session is free, and online Zoom tutoring is available for students anywhere in the world. Gold Star Tutoring describes its experience as one-of-a-kind, uses unique teaching strategies to strengthen memory and retention skills, offers a more tactical, multisensory approach for students with poor memory processing, and provides handwriting pathway support, letter orientation support for b/d and p/q confusion, and decoding and phonemic (sound) awareness support. The program states that its system has supported hundreds of struggling readers with varying levels of language delays, has helped hundreds of students build confidence, conquer literacy challenges, and achieve lasting academic success, and has transformed the lives of many students struggling with handwriting pathways, letter orientation, and decoding and phonemic awareness.
