About

Premier NW Kids Forest School (PNWK Forest School) is an entirely outdoor education program where children take part in hands-on exploration, arts, sciences, hiking, climbing, playing in the forest, storytelling, reading in a natural setting, nature-based projects, group activities, and unstructured play in nature. The program uses child-led learning and inquiry-based teaching in an environment described as outdoors, without walls, without limitations. Its programs are designed to integrate children with nature, focus on stimulating children's innate curiosity about the world around them, support children in becoming strong, confident, and self-sufficient, and develop a love of learning.

• Ages: 1.5–10 years old
• Schedule: Forest School runs September through June; Family Classes run year-round; Camps run during school breaks

Since 2018, Premier NW Kids Forest School has provided an entirely outdoor education program. Forest School options include Preschool, Homeschool, and After School programs, with groups called Sprouts (ages 2.5–6), Saplings (ages 4–7), and Jr. Explorers (ages 5–10). Family Classes are offered for ages 1.5–5 plus a caregiver, and Camps are offered for ages 2.5–6 and 4–10. The mission at PNWK is to develop safe and inclusive education programs that foster children's connections to themselves and the world through exploration, curiosity, and nature immersion. PNWK also provides community events.

Parent feedback about Premier NW Kids Forest School includes comments that educators are amazing and that children have grown so much in the program, with some families sending multiple children over the years. Parents describe classes as a perfect transition for first-time students, mention flexibility and variety in items presented in class, and note an earth-first approach in an age-appropriate way. They describe teachers as kind and professional, say they feel completely safe leaving their children, and refer to the program as a great “yes” space where children are outdoors in all weather and can explore and try new things within limits. Parents report that their children have thrived, learned so much, appreciated nature and each other, and that the staff has consistently supported their kids’ growth and learning over several years.
