Lost Creek Ranch offers riding lessons, equine-assisted programs, therapeutic experiences, and hands-on horse experiences with a herd of rescue horses. The program includes Beginner Group Lessons, Saddle Club, summer camps, educational horsemanship programs, equine therapy programs, and special events. Riding lessons are available in both Western and English disciplines, and many of the rescue horses are paired with riders based on ability, needs, and interests.

Founded in 2000, Lost Creek Ranch is a non profit horse rescue whose rescue, adoption and rehabilitation programs are funded by riding lessons, summer camps, and other educational horsemanship programs. It is the only horse rescue in western Wisconsin that also provides therapeutic experiences and equine-assisted therapy programs, and its herd includes many horses with special needs, including survivors of emotional or physical abuse who receive long-term rehabilitation and retraining. The mission of Lost Creek Ranch is: “Let no heart or soul, human or equine fall through the cracks”; the program focuses on a supportive environment where participants discover the uniquely therapeutic and healing nature of riding. The ranch provides programs for seniors and veterans, and reports that an overwhelming number of participants experience improved mental and/or physical health and a lasting therapeutic bond with their rescue horse. Lost Creek Ranch celebrates riders of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and identities and is committed to keeping its space safe, supportive, and fun for everyone, with scholarships and community support used to make time with horses available regardless of a participant’s ability to pay.
The leadership team includes Executive Director and Founder Lynette Weldon, Lead Instructor Ruth Harper, and Barn Manager and Care Coordinator Shannon Draper. Lynette Weldon has more than 20 years of training and therapeutic expertise, is a certified Life Coach, is recognized as a master clinician and trainer, and has been recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for her impact on individuals with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions; she also earned the Western Dressage Reserved World Champion title in 2015. Lead Instructor Ruth Harper has more than 15 years of teaching experience and has coached over 1,200 riders. Barn Manager and Care Coordinator Shannon Draper has a degree in Animal Science and nearly three decades of experience handling, training, and managing Arabian horses and show stables.
