Discovery Camps offers activities such as climbing, archery, crafts, hiking, and outdoor skills. The program includes Discovery Day Camp and Duluth Discovery Day Camp, along with an option where campers depart from the metro area to head to Tomahawk for a sleep-away camp experience. Discovery Day Camp and Duluth Discovery Day Camp each run as a full week of day camp.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Week-long, 5-day day camp sessions
From camp staff to volunteers, Discovery Camps follows a mission of discovering the principles of Scouting by delivering fun experiences that build character, citizenship, fitness, and family. The program is part of a group of eight camp properties owned and operated by the Northern Star Council, BSA. Each camp undergoes an annual safety and quality analysis as part of a national camp accreditation program. The organization describes its approach as “Community Groups Building Community, One Campfire at a Time,” with year-round hands-on outdoor learning and flexible, seasonal programs that include both day and overnight camp options.
