Its mission is encouraging and promoting life-long wellness by providing a variety of high-quality recreational activities, learning opportunities, aquatics programs, and services to the broad Cambridge area community. CAP is a separate entity from the School District of Cambridge, and the District, through the Community Services Fund (Fund 80), acts as a fiscal agent for CAP. The School District and CAP work together on many fronts and have an established working relationship, and CAP is responsible for scheduling community use of the district facilities. CAP manages several facilities and an 18-acre beach-front park, Ripley Park, which is privately owned by the Cambridge Foundation and managed by CAP. CAP also manages the Cambridge Area Community Pool, which is located in the Cambridge Elementary School. Online payments can be made using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover, and families may choose to pay directly at any Cambridge CAP office with cash or check only to avoid fees.
