About
East River Pop Warner Football offers Pop Warner Football for kids. The program focuses on helping kids learn safe football while having fun teaching fundamental football skills.
• Price: Our player fee today is only $10 more than what it was in 1997
In 1993, Jason Gutzman started researching Pop Warner’s organization, and the first year of play was in 1997 with about 150 local kids signed up. A very generous donation from Reggie White of $5000 helped cover first year expenses, and East River Pop Warner’s first fundraiser was a brat fry that raised their first $750. East River Pop Warner’s goal was to be able to provide all of the equipment to players while keeping player fees reasonable, and the program provides all of the equipment to players while keeping player fees reasonable. The leadership team has included Jason Gutzman, Reggie White, and Brad Lange, and 2023 is the program’s 27th season.
Eventually, local businesses came forward to sponsor teams and provide in kind services, and many of the team sponsors today were with the program from the beginning. The Village of Allouez and Brad Lange provided green space for practices and games, and many volunteers from all over the area came forward, with many remaining active in the program. Community support is described as strong, and the program states that it constantly looks for ways to improve as the premier youth sports program in the area. If a player has completed the 5th grade and has a 90 percent or above from the previous academic year, that player needs to fill out the Pop Warner Little Scholar’s Application.
