Delavan-Darien Dolphins Community Swim Team offers competitive and recreational swimming through regular swim practices and swim meets. Swimmers take part in in-house swim meets as well as meets in nearby communities, with practices that focus on skill development and endurance training. Kids are grouped into three levels—White, Gold, and Blue—based on their swimming abilities.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Practices on Monday and Thursday evenings, with each practice lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours; seasons usually run 12 to 14 weeks depending on holidays
• Price: Payment plans are available upon request.
Programs are offered throughout the school year, with a goal for participants to take part in three or more meets or trials each fall and spring season. White Level swimmers are required to swim 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke and meet basic water competency test requirements. Gold Level swimmers are required to know and execute all four strokes and have basic knowledge of drills for each stroke. Blue Level swimmers are required to have advanced knowledge and execution of turns, dives, drills, and intervals, and be able to swim 200 or more yards without stopping.
The team is a local competitive and recreational swim program that feeds into the Delavan-Darien High School Swim Program. The program’s stated mission is to teach young swimmers in the community how to have fun while in a competitive swimming environment, with a focus on skill development for swimmers with a wide range of abilities.
It is recommended, but not required, that participants purchase a team suit through the A3 Performance team store, which also offers optional goggles. All participants receive one “Delavan-Darien Dolphins” swim cap per season year, and this cap is required for swimming in meets. Additional swim caps can be purchased at the Delavan Parks and Recreation Department office for $5 per cap.
