Sugar Creek Bible Camp

Sugar Creek Bible Camp offers activities such as horse camp, hiking, biking, creek stomping, wading through creeks, fishing, games, crafts, pony rides, worship, gathering around campfires, and stargazing. The camp also hosts more than 20 summer camp programs, camps for grades 1–12, congregational day camps, and family camps for all ages, along with specialty programs like horse camp and other unique experiences throughout the year.

Sugar Creek Bible Camp describes its mission as “Where all generations encounter Christ, experience God’s grace, and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to go forth in faith.” It is a nonprofit organization that celebrates 60 years of outdoor ministries in its valley and has served churches, families, schools, and community groups with camps, retreats, and service opportunities. Sugar Creek began in 1966 as vacant land transformed by clergy and lay leaders from 33 congregations and is now supported by over 125 ELCA congregations across the Midwest, along with volunteers and donors. The camp is ACA-accredited and states guiding principles that include being safe, fun, small group focused, Christ centered, and outdoors. It hosts over 100 events and groups year-round, including youth and adult retreats, custom experiences, and work weekends with projects for all skill levels, hearty meals, and free lodging.
