About
Balance Inc. Children’s Programs include activities such as spending time in the sun, swimming, socialization with peers, community outings, and volunteer projects. Each child is paired with an Adventure Buddy and receives 1:1 support during program activities. The programs include a Children’s Summer Camp, a Children’s After School Rec Program, and a Children’s Club Rec program for kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Sessions run in three-week blocks
Balance Inc. Children’s Programs include a Children’s Summer Camp that offers a summer camp experience for kids with IDD in Ozaukee County. The Children’s After School Rec Program focuses on social skills for children with IDD in a supportive and inclusive environment. Children’s Club Rec is a community-based recreational program that blends elements of the Children’s Summer Rec Program and Adult Day Program and is for children ages 16–17 with IDD.
Balance was founded in 1991. Its mission is to partner with and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live fully, connect deeply, and thrive in community. Program participants are involved in activities that take them into the community at least once and often two or more times per day through various outings and volunteer projects.
One parent of two adult children with ASD shared that when their child is at Balance, they can mentally relax and not be on constant alert, and described Balance as a “Godsend” for their life and that of their entire family.
