For over 136 years, the YMCA of the Fox Cities has been a unifying force in the Fox Valley. In 1844, George Williams started the YMCA, and in 1887, Frank Harwood and other prominent community leaders started the YMCA in Appleton. The stated mission is to put Christian principles into practice by promoting youth, adult and family activities that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Outagamie County partners with the YMCA to bring a childcare center to the Brewster Street campus, and through the YMCA, volunteers, donors, leaders and partners across the country are involved in empowering people to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
