North Lakeland Discovery Center offers activities such as Lakeside Yoga Stretch, a Critter Feeding Demonstration, and the StoryWalk ® Trail Program: In The Winter Woods by Daniela Kulot. Families can also explore trails and gardens, take part in self-guided activities, and join events such as festivals and fundraisers. The program includes work related to invasive species prevention and control, shoreline restoration, and native plantings, as well as the Northwoods Seed Exchange Potluck and a Native Plant Sale.

The mission of North Lakeland Discovery Center is to enrich lives and inspire an ethic of care for Wisconsin's Northwoods, through the facilitation of connections among nature, people and community. The program also offers a Professional Development Program, which is an immersive program for undergraduate and recent graduate students. An NLDC Trail Report notes that all trails are groomed and tracked for skiing except for the Northern Cruise and Big River trails, and that trails are in great condition for skiing and snowshoeing. Facilities include a lodge, classrooms, bunkhouses, an amphitheater, and recreational facilities.
