Campers stay at the EAA Air Academy Lodge, which has 12 bunkrooms that each accommodate four campers with shared bathroom facilities, plus four accessible suites that each have private bathrooms and accommodate four campers. The lodge also includes a library, games of pool, carpet ball, ping-pong, and a fire pit. EAA Air Academy is an ACA accredited program.

EAA was founded in 1953. The mission at EAA is to ensure that every aspiring aviator has the opportunity to explore the world of aviation, regardless of financial constraints. Many Air Academy campers are sponsored by their local EAA chapter, and Young Eagles pilots can earn credits that can help with the cost of camp, which are often used by EAA chapters to sponsor students. Camperships are grants offered to students attending EAA Air Academy camps, and to be eligible for a Campership, a student must first be accepted into the Air Academy program. EAA chapters may pay part or all of camp expenses for campers, and Young Eagles pilots can earn credits that can help with the cost of camp.
