Camp Horseshoe is a summer camp for boys that welcomes boys ages 8–18 from around the globe each summer. The program includes a never-ending line-up of innovative activities, creative evening programs, and unique special events. Camp Horseshoe has camper to counselor ratios of 4:1, small cabins, and family style meals enjoyed at round tables. The camp also offers big brother/little brother mentoring programs and goal-oriented programs that encourage campers to set goals and achieve honors through participation in all areas of camp. Entrance into the Na Ta Ne and Golden Horseshoe Honor Tribes are described as milestones toward which every Horseshoe camper has the opportunity to strive. A Sunday evening tradition called Council Horseshoe is described as a ceremony filled with 75 year old customs and rituals, and Horseshoe campers have described camp as “amazing,” “indescribable,” and “the best place on earth.”
Camp Horseshoe is owned and directed by Jordan and Fran Shiner. The Camp Horseshoe Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the betterment of children through camping, education, health and safety throughout the world, and it partners with charities to provide underserved children the opportunity to participate in a variety of summer camp, educational, recreational and wellness programs that would otherwise not be available. The Camp Horseshoe Foundation states that the summer camp experience should be available to all children, not just to those who can afford it, and it offers a variety of off-season events and programs for campers to participate in while learning the importance of making a positive difference in the lives of others. Listed charitable camp partners include The Rory David Deutsch Foundation, Hodag Schools Foundation, SCOPE, Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing: Frederick Place, Global Camps Africa, College Bound Opportunities, and Keshet.
