About
McCracken Basketball Camp at Ripon College offers a Complete Skills Program with detailed instruction and drills in the skills needed to be a complete basketball player. Campers take part in daily league games and scrimmages, individual and group contests for awards, lectures and demonstrations, drills and stations, individual instruction, a night program, and an awards presentation at the end of camp.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: June 29–July 2, 2026, with check-in on the first day from 1pm to 2pm and check-out on the last day at 4:30pm, including an awards presentation beginning at 3:30pm
• Price: Overnight $589.00; Extended Day $449.00
The daily schedule runs from wake-up at 7:30am through lights out at 10:30pm, and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, lectures and demonstrations, drills, stations, scrimmages, contests, individual instruction or free time, league games, and a night program. Extended Day campers arrive after breakfast and stay until 9:45pm, with lunch and dinner provided, and all meals are served in the school cafeteria. Overnight campers reside in dorms on campus and are assigned by age and roommate requests, and room keys are available upon request at check-in for a $20 deposit that is refundable if the key is returned at check-out.
Camp Director Todd German has been involved with The McCracken Basketball Camp for over 50 years as a camper, counselor, Assistant Camp Director, and Camp Director, and he played basketball at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Manchester College, where he was the leading scorer, rebounder, and MVP. German received his master’s degree from Western Michigan University, and trained counselors work with campers along with the director and assistant director and supervise all camp activities. The McCracken Basketball Camp was founded in 1963 by Branch McCracken, Indiana University’s Hall-of-Fame coach, and David B. McCracken served as Director from 1970 until 2001. The McCracken Basketball Camp is beginning its 64th year of operation, and McCracken Camps is beginning its 60th year of operation, with the summer of 2020 marking their 58th consecutive year in the camp operations business.
The camp states two long-standing goals: that each camper should have fun and learn to become the best player that he or she can possibly be. McCracken Camps is known as a teaching camp, with an established program of detailed, personalized individual instruction, skill-appropriate drills for each player and drill group, top competition in daily league games and scrimmages, individual and group contests for awards, and personal attention for each player on and off the courts. All registered campers must have a parent or legal guardian fill out US Sports Camps’ mandatory Health & Release Forms online before arrival, and this camp does not require a doctor’s signature on the forms. An Information Packet with site-specific details and a checklist of things to bring is emailed to all registered campers prior to camp. Nike is the title sponsor of the camps and has no control over the operation of the camps or the acts or omissions of US Sports Camps.
