About
McCracken Basketball Camp offers Overnight Basketball Camps and Day Basketball Camps. The camp is known as a teaching camp that provides instruction for the most advanced high school player as well as for younger players who are just learning the game. It is dedicated to teaching boys and girls the skills necessary to have success in basketball and emphasizes that each camper should have fun and learn to become the best player that he or she can possibly be.
• Ages: 7–18 years old
McCracken Camps was founded in 1963 by Indiana University's Hall-of-Fame coach, Branch McCracken. Branch's son, David B. McCracken, became Director of the camp in 1970 and continued in that position until 2001, and long-time camper and counselor Todd German is now the Owner/Director. McCracken Camps is beginning its 64th year of operation, and the summer of 2020 marked its 58th consecutive year in the camp operations business, with McCracken Basketball Camps returning for its 59th year in Summer 2021.
The camp’s philosophy is to give personal attention to each player, both on and off the courts, and it states that it is not an assembly line and that the individual is the most important part of the camp. It provides detailed instruction along with repetitive drills and shows drills and practice techniques that can be used to continue to improve individual skills. McCracken Basketball Camp is a division of US Sports Camps, which is described as the largest provider of sports camps in the world, and Nike is the title sponsor of the camps.
