About

C.O.P.S. Kids Camp offers swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, canoeing, archery, shooting sports, and campfire skits for child campers and their accompanying adults. Child campers take part in age-appropriate grief counseling sessions guided by licensed mental health professionals, and adult campers are required to attend their own group counseling sessions. Child campers are grouped in cabins based on age, with each cabin having a mentor who is either a law enforcement officer or an adult child survivor, and adult campers stay in nearby cabins a short walk away.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: July 13–18, 2026
• Price: Your only expense is your travel to and from the Milwaukee Airport if you are flying, or to and from the Salvation Army Wonderland Camp & Conference Center if you are driving; all lodging, meals, and activities are provided at no cost.

Kids Camp is planned for surviving children ages 6–14 and their parent or legal guardian of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria. Children must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized chaperone with written consent to attend. Buses are available to pick up attendees from the Milwaukee Airport on the scheduled arrival day and return them on departure day. Attendees are asked not to make any travel arrangements until they receive confirmation from C.O.P.S. that registration has been received and approved, after which detailed travel booking information is sent. If a registered participant does not cancel and does not attend the camp, that person could be subject to a participation fee for the following year’s camp.

C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 with 110 individual members and has a mission of rebuilding the shattered lives of surviving family members and co-workers affected by a line-of-duty death. C.O.P.S. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has 53 chapters nationwide that work with survivors at the grass-roots level, and it offers training and assistance to law enforcement agencies nationwide on how to respond to the tragic loss of a member of the law enforcement profession. One 2025 surviving spouse attending Kids Camp said that the program has allowed their family to form bonds with other families and create memories they will cherish, and other survivors describe C.O.P.S. as bringing hope, compassion, non-judgment, understanding, and support into their lives.
