Camp Tekakwitha is an outdoor ministry program that centers its activities on faith, nature, and community life. The program focuses on inviting and guiding young people into a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ amidst the beauty of God's natural creation, with an emphasis on spiritual growth, authentic community, outdoor adventure and fun, care for creation, and a culture of love and service for God and neighbor.
Camp Tekakwitha is an outdoor ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay. Its mission is to invite and guide young people into a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ amidst the beauty of God's natural creation. The program is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), the only national accrediting body for camps of all types, with a focus on health, safety, and risk management. Staff at Camp Tekakwitha perform annual updates and an intensive evaluation every four years to follow necessary health, safety, and risk management standards for campers, staff, and year-round visitors.
The leadership team includes McKenna Runde, Director of Camp Tekakwitha; Abby Sorensen, Retreat Director; and Kaitlynn Kupsky, Summer Camp Director. McKenna Runde has education in youth ministry and nonprofit leadership. Abby Sorensen has education in Business and Theology from St. Norbert College and previously served as a Faith Formation Coordinator.
