About

SOAR ADHD Summer Camp and Outdoor Adventure Programs offers outdoor adventure-based programs that focus on experiential education and life skills development for youth and young adults with ADHD and/or Learning Disabilities. The programs are part of a non-profit organization and are not a therapeutic boot camp or wilderness therapy program. Across all programs, SOAR maintains an average staff-to-participant ratio of 1:4.

• Ages: 8–18 years old

SOAR has offered a variety of camp courses for over 45 years. Its mission is to provide experiential education, interpersonal life skills development, and outdoor adventure-based programming to youth, young adults, and families living with Learning Disabilities and/or Attention Deficit Disorders through SOAR’s outdoor adventure programs. SOAR utilizes the Frostig Center's 6 Life Success Attributes to create a step-by-step process for participants to set and achieve personal goals. SOAR’s U.S.-based camp programming is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), and The Academy at SOAR, including the study abroad program, is accredited by Cognia. SOAR is an authorized permittee of the National Park Service and the National Forest Service. SOAR was founded by Jonathan Jones, an adult with a learning disability.

Parents have reported that their children valued interacting with peers who accept them and share many of the same challenges. One parent stated that their son’s experience in the program transformed his life and that he returns home very excited after attending SOAR’s summer programs. Another parent shared that their son’s experience in the program fundamentally changed him and gave him a level of confidence he never had before.
