Mini Expedition is a 3-day, 2-night program that includes standup paddleboarding, rock climbing, and camping. Campers take part in activities such as playing fun games on paddleboards, learning proper paddle strokes, practicing rescue techniques, maneuvering paddleboards through area lakes, and learning climbing techniques, equipment use, and safety precautions. They also maintain a campsite, set up and break down camping equipment, keep their campsite space tidy, cook meals in the backcountry, play games during downtime, and swap stories around the campfire, with structured times for Morning Circle, Self & Group Care, Evening Circle, and an Evening Activity.

Two highly trained instructors lead each Mini Expedition group with a maximum of 13 campers, and every activity starts with a discussion about risks, prevention, and response. The program uses top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids and includes transportation to and from recreation areas. Mini Expedition is part of Avid4 Adventure, whose mission is to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to set them on a trajectory of lifelong outdoor adventure and stewardship, building skills, confidence, grit, and determination, and teaching them to thrive in the outdoors. Avid4 Adventure is led by founder David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry.
Avid4 Adventure is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps.
