The Pointe Dance Arts

The Pointe Dance Arts offers Preschool Twinkle Star classes for ages 2-5, with stories, music, and props, and students study Ballet, Tap, and pre-Jazz movements. It also offers Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, and Tweens and Teen Beginners classes for dancers age 9 and up, with beginner, recreational-level, competitive, and pre-professional dancers served.

Programs

• Elementary — Primary levels for dancers; beginners and new students are welcome.
• Intermediate — Students build on foundations and start to master more complex skills.
• Advanced — Advanced level dancers focus on technique and artistry.
• Tweens and Teen Beginners — 9 and up · Wide variety of classes for beginners age 9 and up.

About the provider

The Pointe Dance Arts has a near-20 year history and is led by Shannon Denney, the Owner and Artistic Director, and Maya Johnson, the Director of Marketing and Programs, Senior Instructor, and Company Choreographer. Its mission is to maintain a creative, exciting classroom environment while offering each child the highest quality dance education and to instill healthy habits, teamwork, and life skills. The studio is described as one of the largest and most well-established dance studios in the Birmingham area, and students have studied with and/or received scholarships to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Edge Performing Arts Center, The American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet New York, Nashville Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Steps on Broadway, and numerous university dance programs.

Free trial class / free trial lesson offered; classes for ages two and up; serves beginner, recreational-level, competitive and pre-professional dancers.
