About

U.S. Kids Golf Phoenix Local Tour offers golf tournaments for kids through a series of organized competitive events. The program includes multiple tournament dates at different golf courses during the Spring 2026 season.

• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Spring 2026 tournament series with events from January 4, 2026, through May 17, 2026
• Price: An additional $15 will be applied during Late Registration.

Spring 2026 tournament event dates are: January 4, 2026; January 11, 2026; January 25, 2026; February 1, 2026; April 19, 2026; April 26, 2026; May 3, 2026; and May 17, 2026, with specific registration and late registration windows for each event, and all deadlines listed in Eastern Standard Time. The May 17, 2026 event is the Tour Championship. Local Tours are described as designed for the beginning competitive golfer, and each event is described as providing a fun environment where kids can develop their skills. Local Tours allow players ages 5 to 14 to learn to compete in their local community and then advance to State, Regional, and World Championships, where two-day events such as State Invitational tournaments and Regional Championships are ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard. At each level, players may earn Priority Status in order to gain entry into more challenging events, and parent caddies are strongly encouraged and permitted at tournaments.

U.S. Kids Golf was started in 1996, and the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation was formed in 2001. Ultralight clubs have been offered since 1997, the U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 award was conceived in 2004, Tour Series was introduced in 2007, and a continuing education and Certification program for coaches began in 2011. The first World Championship was held in 2000 at Jekyll Island, Georgia, and the European Championship began in 2008 in East Lothian, Scotland. In 2015, the Foundation purchased Longleaf Golf & Country Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina, which is described as a living laboratory for growing kids and family golf and includes tee locations of 3200, 3800, and 4400 yards and a state-of-the-art academy building. The World Championships are described as the pinnacle event in the world for youth golfers, with two events and over 2000 players from over 50 countries.

The U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 award recognizes coaches for their ability to teach the game to kids, and coaches who receive the award three times are recognized as Master Kids Coaches, with over 110 Master Kids Coaches named. The U.S. Kids Golf Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. U.S. Kids Golf began a partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance in 2009, and the U.S. Kids Golf Family Tee program is partnered with the PGA of America, with over 1500 courses in the United States establishing Forward Tee locations for kids and families. Dan Van Horn is the Founder and President of U.S. Kids Golf and is a former golf professional and engineer.

U.S. Kids Golf offers nine sizes and three models of clubs, and players are fit by height instead of age. Ultralight kids clubs were designed to be 25% lighter than adult and most junior clubs and are described as up to 30 percent lighter than adult clubs. Tour Series club heads are 5% heavier than those in the Ultralight system, with stiffer shafts, and the Yard Club has a molded grip that teaches proper hand placement, an oversized but extremely lightweight head with a pitching wedge loft, and a flexible lightweight shaft.
