About
Carter's Gymnastics Academy – Gymnastics & Tumbling Programs offers gymnastics, tumbling, boys gymnastics, preschool gymnastics, and competitive gymnastics. The program also includes Mommy & Me classes for toddlers, skills clinics, summer camps, birthday parties, themed open gyms, holiday showcases, and “Glow Night” parties. Within the summer camps, children work on tumbling, balance beam, vault, and floor skills.
• Ages: 3–14 years old
• Schedule: Class and program options are available Monday–Thursday afternoons and evenings, Friday afternoons and evenings, and Saturday mornings to early afternoon, with multiple weekly sessions throughout the summer.
Summer camps at Carter's Gymnastics Academy are tailored to children ages 3 to 14 and include a balance of gymnastics fundamentals, creative play, and personal growth. Preschool gymnastics is led by certified gymnastics preschool coaches, and the preschool program is age-suggested but ability-based. The gym is smaller by design so the athlete gets more and better attention, and birthday party packages are offered to fit every age group.
Carter's Gymnastics Academy is led by Jack and Erin Carter. For more than 20 years, Jack and Erin Carter have been coaching and producing gymnasts at the highest level. In 2000, Jack Carter accompanied his gymnast, Kristen Maloney, to the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, where she took home a bronze medal. The program’s stated mission is to provide the Mesa area a fun, motivational, and positive environment to develop confidence, self-esteem, and healthy bodies through the sport of gymnastics, to work closely with gymnasts to teach a positive attitude toward learning gymnastics, to prepare them for life, and to provide an opportunity to reach their maximum potential.
Parents describe the coaches as passionate, committed, and authentic, and note that a smaller gym means more attention and improved technique for athletes in important meets like State and Regionals. Families report that children enjoy boys’ beginner classes, stay with the gym for many years, and progress to higher competitive levels, including level 9. Other parents mention that their children have lots of fun, that they are pleased with the coaches and facilities, and that staff from the front desk to the coaches make their kids feel seen and supported.
