After School and Summer Programs offers meals, snacks, and a hot, nutritious dinner at no additional cost, along with homework help, tutoring, and daily academic enrichment activities. The program includes daily physical activity, sports, physical fitness, and healthy fun and recreation. Participants also take part in educational programs that complement and reinforce what youth learn during the school day, as well as experiences in the arts, character development, leadership training, career pathway and workforce readiness learning, and internship opportunities.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: After school programming from 3pm–7pm, with BGCAZ staying open until 7pm
• Price: At just $40–$80 per month during the school year (including snacks and a hot, nutritious dinner at no additional cost)
After School and Summer Programs are part of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley, which offers affordable after-school and summer programs for more than 20,000 young people in grades K–12. Programs are organized around four Priority Outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character & Leadership, Healthy Lifestyles, and Career Pathways & Workforce Readiness, and are rooted in social-emotional development practices. Members develop key skills such as curiosity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, make healthy nutrition choices, employ resistance and decision-making skills, and refrain from participating in risky behaviors. Members also have access to caring and supportive adults who help foster resilience to challenges, stress, and bullying, demonstrate leadership and service to others in the Club and in the community, understand their rights and responsibilities as community members, and explore a variety of careers in order to develop their own personalized plan for success.
BGCAZ is the largest childcare provider in the Valley and provides award-winning programs. BGCAZ offers unique experiences in the arts, physical fitness, character development, and leadership training, and supports families’ work schedules by staying open until 7 pm. For 75 years, BGCAZ has been creating equity and opportunity for youth. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley empowers young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of the community.
