Girls Golf of Phoenix states a mission to empower and inspire girls through golf, focusing on girls ages 3–18 with practice sessions, tournaments, and family events. The program follows the “Five E’s,” which are to EMPOWER girls with confidence and inspire them to dream big, ENRICH girls’ lives by expanding their minds and character on and off the golf course with unique opportunities, ENERGIZE girls with passion for the game of golf and opportunity for friendships that will last a lifetime, ENGAGE girls with positive female role models, mentors and partners that share a love of golf, and EXERCISE girls’ minds and bodies to help them unlock their full potential for athletic development and growth. Girls Golf of Phoenix Tournament Divisions have a stated goal to provide members with a safe environment to enhance their athletic abilities with empowering competitive exposure, and these divisions are based on skill level rather than age.

The Girls Golf of Phoenix Director is Cori Matheson (LPGA). Site hosts include Andrew Yang (PGA) for Girls Golf of Sun City, Sheila Peterson (PGA) for Girls Golf of North Phoenix, Tina Tombs (LPGA) for Girls Golf of Central Phoenix, Peggy Briggs (LPGA) for Girls Golf of East Mesa, and Kay Cornelius (LPGA) for Girls Golf of Chandler. Members choose a “home base” site when signing up, and the program visits these sites throughout the year.

Girls must be members of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf to participate in Girls Golf of Phoenix events. Girls Golf of Phoenix is a program of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona and is supported by the LPGA Foundation. It is a 501c3 program that is primarily funded by local grants and contributions. The program uses the phrase “Together we are ‘Changing The Face of the Game!’” as part of its messaging.
