The H.E.A.R.T. Center offers equine assisted activities, therapeutic riding, equine-assisted learning, adaptive recreation, and recreational therapy. The program also provides recreation and activity integrated educational programs as part of its services. The H.E.A.R.T. Center includes an equine-based private school that functions as a Special Education Private MicroSchool and Transition Academy, blending elements of homeschooling and traditional school to infuse equine-assisted learning and recreation into traditional academics.

The H.E.A.R.T. Center was founded in 2014. Its mission is to use horses and recreation to make school and therapy more relevant and more fun for students with additional needs. The H.E.A.R.T. Center was founded in 2014 with the mission of using horses and recreation to create alternative and intentional therapeutic learning opportunities for students with developmental disabilities. The program focuses on therapeutic riding and recreational therapy practices as means of developing and nurturing physical, social, cognitive, and emotional function and well-being. It offers diverse programs that provide participants with a meaningful and practical application of life skills and knowledge through an approach described as Education Through Recreation.

The H.E.A.R.T. Center is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. The founder and executive director is Chelsea Harden, CTRS, who is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH, Int’l) Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. The leadership team also includes Miss Carrie, Miss Kennedy, and Mr Matt.
