Phoenix Gymnastics & Dance Academy offers gymnastics, dance, and hip hop classes. The program takes place in a 12,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art facility that includes a fully air conditioned gym, a dance room with a floating floor, and equipment for both boys and girls gymnastics. The facility also includes in-ground tumble trak and trampolines, 2 in-ground foam pits, multiple sets of equipment, a lower and upper level viewing area for gym and dance, wireless internet access, gymnastics attire for sale, and a circle drive for easy drop-off and pick-up.
• Schedule: Class options are available Monday–Thursday with hours ranging from morning through early evening, Friday with daytime and early evening hours, and Saturday mornings, with Sunday closed.
Phoenix Gymnastics Academy was established in 1982 and has been home to aspiring athletes for 40 years. Over the past 40 years, it has become known as one of the top gymnastics programs in Arizona and is described as Arizona's premier gymnastics training center. The program is family-owned, with family members actively involved in all aspects of the business, and many former athletes now coach at Phoenix Gymnastics & Dance Academy.
The owners, Mike and Donna Payne, are both highly respected coaches in the gymnastics community. The instructors are highly trained USA Gymnastics members, and all instructors carry certifications through USA Gymnastics, including Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction, Safety and Risk Management, and Safe Sport. Competitive coaches hold further certifications, and Donna has a national rating as a NAWGJ gymnastics judge.
Phoenix Gymnastics & Dance Academy states that it believes in providing a safe and fun environment for children to learn and grow. The program offers a free trial class for all new students. It has multiple women's gymnastics teams and girls teams that compete under the USA Gymnastics Developmental Program, including pre-teams, compulsory girls (Levels 2–5), optionals (Levels 6–10), and Xcel (silver–gold–platinum).
In 2022, Mike was inducted into the Indiana Gymnastics Hall of Fame, and the Phoenix Gymnastics & Dance Academy staff has been recognized for outstanding achievements by the Arizona Women’s Gymnastics Community. Parent testimonials describe the staff as excellent and accommodating, note that kids love attending, and mention that coaches work hard as a team to provide good training in what is described as a safe and good environment.
