About
Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) Children’s & Family Programs offers services for individuals with autism and their families within SARRC’s broader clinical model grounded in applied behavior analysis (ABA), with a particular focus on naturalistic behavioral interventions in inclusive environments such as home, school, job, and community. The programs, classes, and trainings are guided by best practice models, current science, increasing independence, meaningful outcomes, and individualized needs. SARRC conducts innovative research, provides evidence-based practices, disseminates training, and builds inclusive communities for individuals with autism and their families as part of these programs.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Established in 1997, SARRC is an internationally recognized nonprofit whose mission is to advance research and provide a lifetime of support for individuals with autism and their families. The organization provides a lifetime of services for individuals with autism and their families while also conducting cutting-edge research, and operates as an entrepreneurial nonprofit with less than three percent of annual revenue coming from state and federal funding. SARRC has a DEI Committee, established in 2020, to encourage, empower and embrace the full potential of all team members and to promote a culture that respects diversity, and it has a stated goal to put effective services within reach of every Arizonan by 2030. Leadership connected to the organization includes board members Lukas Grabiec, J.D., Lead Corporate Counsel at Gen, and Amy Pawlowski. SARRC notes recognition and accreditation, without specifying particular accrediting bodies or awards.
SARRC and First Place AZ have teamed up to introduce Arizona’s first specialty autism license plate, “Driving Support for Autism.” Families and participants have shared experiences with SARRC, including statements about receiving resources and confidence, learning skills such as working with others, job searching, taking the bus, dressing for interviews, and presenting themselves for employment, and using tools and training from SARRC every day. Testimonials also describe working on eye contact in SARRC’s JumpStart program, changes families observed after a few months of working with SARRC, and parents learning specific ways to support and relate to their children.
