Camp Ocean

Camp Ocean includes classroom activities, behind the scenes tours, and interactive learning experiences focused on the ocean and its animals. Camp sessions cover fresh and saltwater species, ecosystems, animal adaptations, marine biology, and conservation through themed camps for Grades 1–8, including “Fins, Feathers, and Fur: All about Animals” (Grades 1–2), “Land, Sea, and Sky: Habitats of the World” (Grades 3–5), and “Junior Marine Biologists: Care & Conservation” (Grades 6–8).

Camp Ocean takes place within a program whose mission is to deliver guest experiences that create fun memories, heighten animal awareness, and inspire change, while fostering growth for team members. The program is part of an organization led by Founder Amram Knishinsky, PhD, and Managing Partners Adi Knishinsky and Ran Knishinsky. The project for this aquarium-based setting began in March 2015 and was completed in September 2016. The camp has received recognition as AZ Foothills “Best of the Valley - Best Day Camp” for 2025, and the aquarium hosting it has been voted Best Indoor Entertainment.

Parents have reported that their children “loved every moment of camp” and came home with “so many fun facts to share,” and one parent shared that “Day 1 was the best day ever! Day 2 was better than the best day ever!” Visitors to the broader aquarium experience have described it as “by far the best nature family experience” in the Phoenix area and have highlighted time with animals such as penguins as a highlight of their visit. The organization states that it is proud to support the community.
