About
Sedona Arts Center School of the Arts offers workshops, classes, crash courses, ceramics courses, field expeditions, private lessons, online classes, and online workshops. Workshops are described as an intensive experience that gives students information to distill and practice for months and even years afterwards. Most workshops are appropriate for all levels of students, with some designed specifically for intermediate and advanced students, and crash courses are described as perfect for beginners, those wanting a refresher, or artists in search of new creative tools. The program includes a vibrant ceramics department, and its online classes and workshops provide a well-rounded experience in various visual art mediums.

Sedona Arts Center’s mission is to connect, enrich, educate and lead through the inspiring power of the arts and creative discovery. The organization was first established in 1958 as Sedona’s first art center, “Canyon Kiva,” and the name was changed to Sedona Arts Center in 1961. The community theatre was founded in 1970, and a new building added in 1994 houses an art gallery, classroom space, and the community theatre. In 2001 the mission was redefined to focus primarily on education through Sedona Arts Center School of the Arts and gallery exhibitions of the visual arts, and in 2021 the organization began a new phase with a new vision, mission, and strategic plan, followed by completion of a Campus Master Plan in 2023.
Sedona Arts Center is one of Northern Arizona’s oldest 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and is described as a gathering place where artists and the community can gather and celebrate all that Sedona has to offer. Its Gallery Shop showcases artwork by local artists and is described as having the largest selection in Sedona of artwork by local artists, and its Online Gallery Shop represents work from over 100 artists. The center is described as a rich legacy of the founders’ vision and a cultural constant through Sedona’s growth and demographic changes.
