About

Camp Imagination is an annual two-week summer arts camp where campers take part in music, movement and dance, drama, culinary arts, technical theatre, film production, visual arts, American Ninja Warrior, drawing, acting, drumming, arts and crafts, tumbling, aerial circus, puppetry, jewelry making, sewing, comedy and improvisation, stage makeup, DIY, and crime scene investigation. Each camper participates in four classes: one Showtime class where they learn their part for the final musical production, and three elective classes. Camp Imagination culminates in a live, public performance starring all of the campers, either on stage as actors, singers and dancers or behind the scenes as the technical crew.

• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Two separate two-week sessions in June 2026, with daytime classes during the week and an evening “Show Time!” performance at the end of each session

Camp Imagination will produce two sessions, both two-weeks long, during the month of June 2026, with a maximum of 200 campers total, 100 campers per two-week session, who are entering first through twelfth grade in the fall of 2026. Camp Imagination participants are grouped according to their grade and choose from a variety of art classes targeted to their skill levels. Students in sixth grade and up are encouraged to audition for lead roles in the final production, and those given lead roles meet intensively with an acting and a singing coach for advanced performance techniques and skills.

Twenty-seven teaching artists, recruited from local, state and nationwide resources, teach 35 classes each day. Over 40 volunteers, including adult family members, retired teachers and community members, assist teaching artists in their classrooms, lead campers to their different classes, and are encouraged to participate in Camp activities alongside the campers. The goals of Camp Imagination include helping campers develop fine motor skills, attention to detail, sequencing, follow through, patience and discipline; creating a nurturing environment for creative self-expression; and improving campers’ self-image, self-confidence, and sense of community.

The Webb Center offers this program each summer with assistance from the Wickenburg Unified School District, the Sigler Western Museum, and the Wickenburg Police Department’s Cops Who Care program. The Wickenburg Unified School District provides classroom facilities and free student lunches, the Sigler Western Museum coordinates the visual arts classes, and Cops Who Care teaches a crime scene investigation class. Community partners help ensure Camp Imagination’s continued success and sustainability.

The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to present culturally diverse, live performing arts and educational experiences that inspire audiences and artistically transform the community. A professional theatre was constructed as part of the Wickenburg High School campus in 2000, and the Webb Center opened for its inaugural season in the fall of 2001. One camper, now an elementary music teacher, reports that being part of Camp Imagination for 10 years shaped who she is as a person and educator and that her experiences at camp, along with the staff and teaching artists, allow her to share music and theater with the next generation.
