AYSO Region 4 states its mission as providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives. All instruction for activities and games in the Fall 5U Schoolyard/4U Playground program is led by professional coaches, with required parent involvement. Individual Fall Core teams in 6U–19U are required to provide a team sponsor for the season, and the sponsor fee is tax-deductible, with sponsors recognized on team banners and in region media announcements such as a notice listing all sponsors in The Acorn. Teams in the 16U and 19U divisions participate in the AYSO Area 10E game circuit with opponents from nearby AYSO regions such as Newbury Park and Simi Valley, and the 16U and 19U season wraps up before the start of the high school soccer season per CIF rules. The EPIC Program is for kids and adults of any age with intellectual and physical challenges, uses modified rules and field sizes, and allows anyone of any age, regardless of challenges, to register, with a helpful “buddy” available on the field as needed. For 10U, 12U, and 14U teams, post-season Region 4 Playoffs begin immediately after the regular season, with points earned through game performance, sportsmanship, and team referee points, and a total of 20 points with a minimum of 9 referee points plus good standing regarding conduct and volunteer certifications and licenses is required for post-season invitations, and top 10U–14U teams may be invited to AYSO Area 10E League Playoffs in December and beyond. Assistant Commissioner Doug Sears is listed as the contact for EPIC Program questions.
