About
Dance Masters Performing Arts Youth Program offers a youth dance program that includes group dance classes, beginning ballroom dance, ballet, and a performance team. The program is part of a broader set of activities at the studio that also includes Latin dance cardio workouts, social dance classes, private lessons in dance, private lessons in music, and small-group music lessons, along with meditation and mindfulness workshops, sound baths, and gentle movement or dance-yoga style classes.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Group class options are available on weekdays and Saturdays, with additional private lessons and special events by appointment.
Dance Masters Performing Arts is described as a boutique studio and a premier performing arts school offering in-studio classes, private lessons, and online courses in various performance arts disciplines, with three paths of study in dance, music, and wellness. The youth dance program is described as building a strong foundation of technique while nurturing creativity, discipline, and self-confidence, and the studio describes dance as a way for kids to express themselves, make new friends, and develop lifelong skills. Classes are described as small, friendly, and welcoming, and private lessons in dance or music are described as tailored to experience level, learning style, and interests, with flexible scheduling and customizable lesson packages.
Owner and Studio Manager Ashlieya Hanelin (Mariano) has led Dance Masters Performing Arts since 2017 and is described as a professional actor, dancer, and creative, as well as a meditation facilitator, hypnotherapy practitioner, and creative guide. Studio Manager, Artistic Director, and Dance Instructor Neff Fisher brings over 30 years of dance experience, is a winner and finalist in national and international ballroom competitions, and previously served for 12 years as a director for a large dance studio chain, training instructors and developing curricula. Dance and Wellness Instructor Jackie Dennis earned her BFA in Dance from Point Park University, trained in Chicago, at the North Carolina School of the Arts, and at Point Park University, and has performed and taught in the U.S., Israel, Morocco, and Sri Lanka. Dance and Wellness Instructor Tatiana Fernald has over two decades of experience in performance and choreography, with classical ballet training from the Santa Clarita Ballet Academy and extensive training in advanced hip hop, jazz, Latin fusion, and modern dance. Music Instructor Danny Ader studied Classical Guitar and Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and is described as an experienced studio and band guitarist.
Students are told they do not need special shoes and can come to class wearing comfortable shoes that allow them to move and glide around the dance floor, and sneakers and rubber-soled shoes are described as generally not allowing this. Ballroom dance shoes are described as a personal choice that can support comfort, balance, and ease of movement, and the studio offers a selection of ballroom dance shoes and will help fit students properly if they are interested. One parent review states, “Dance Masters Ballroom is a gold mine! I can honestly say I continue to enjoy dancing even more after every class. The management and staff here really go out of their way to ensure everyone has a great personalized experience and feels comfortable.”
