Golden Heart Ranch Camps and Social Living Club is part of Golden Heart Ranch, which focuses on young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and an inclusive community where young adults learn, work, and create lifelong friendships. Camp Coyote Ridge offers overnight camps each month, and there are many social events throughout the year, along with plans for four residential homes on site. The Social Living Club programs are offered in both South Bay and Agoura Hills locations. Golden Heart Ranch’s mission statement says that it provides young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to reach their fullest potentials and enjoy meaningful, satisfying and joyful lives in a supportive and caring environment. The leadership team includes Founder and CEO Rose van Wier Hein, Executive Assistant Barbara Pacheco, Director of Programming – Agoura Hills Jeni Pierce, and Director of Programming – South Bay Christina Lara. In 2006, the founder visited a farm in the Netherlands that inspired the model for Golden Heart Ranch, and the organization later created the FRED Conference to bring together adult living professionals, farmsteads, self-advocates, policy organizations, and families to advance adult living opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supported by families, professionals, and other supporters.
