About
Wild Things Outdoor Learning offers outdoor exploration, nature play, arts and crafts, group games, and undirected play in nature. Children take part in daily explorations and activities that include outdoor adventures, collaborative projects, and play, exploration, and supported risk-taking in natural environments. The program emphasizes creativity and self expression through play and collaboration.
• Ages: 1–8 years old
Wild Things Outdoor Learning includes child and caregiver “mommy and me” style classes, a Nature Preschool Class (Homeschool Enrichment) drop-off program, Spring and Summer Camps as drop-off programs, and a Homeschool Nature Class for homeschooled children around the age of TK(ish) to 2nd Grade(ish). The Homeschool Nature Class meets twice a week, with the option to sign up for one day a week or both. The curriculum is nature-based, entirely student-led, play-based, and was born from an admiration of forest schools and nature play.
Wild Things Outdoor Learning was started with child and caregiver classes for kids aged 1–5 and later expanded into a Nature Preschool Class, Spring and Summer Camps, and a Homeschool Nature Class. The program offers private classes and parties within 25 miles of Westlake Village, or farther with an additional travel fee. Wild Things Outdoor Learning offers homeschooling families a dynamic and engaging curriculum that integrates real-world experiences, outdoor adventures, and collaborative projects.
Wild Things Outdoor Learning is led by founder and teacher Amanda Griffith, whose years as a classroom teacher have taken her all over the world and exposed her to many different ways and styles of teaching. Its mission is expressed as “EXPLORE CONNECT GROW,” with a belief that a connection with nature leads to greater connections with ourselves and others. The program states a goal of building greater awareness of self through creativity and self expression, connecting to others through play and collaboration, and finding a place in the world out in nature. The organization hopes to continue to grow and reach children throughout the Conejo Valley and beyond.
