Alpine Jiu-Jitsu Academy offers classes in Jiu-Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and self defense. The program includes a free 1-week trial, with trial classes taken over a consecutive 5-day period.

Alpine Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a local, family-owned and operated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy that has been supporting the East County community since 2016. Alpine Jiu-Jitsu opened its academy in 2016 and offers a family friendly environment, a large kids’ program, and a curriculum for all experience levels, with classes available for ages 5 and up. The academy also offers kids camps throughout the year and special events such as parent’s night out, in-house tournaments, and self-defense events.
All head instructors are black belts with years of experience teaching children and adults of all ages, and classes are led by experienced black belts, including competitor coaches and both women and men coaches. Coaches are CPR, AED, and First Aid certified. The leadership team includes founder and instructor Frank Califano; head instructor Tarsis Humphreys, a 4th-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and multiple-time IBJJF World Champion as well as Brazilian, European, and Pan American Champion; instructor Deborah Clem, a 2nd-degree black belt who was awarded her black belt from Master Fabio Santos in 2015; and instructors David Goan, Danielle Kaiser, Hector Mena (assistant coach), Brittany Schofer (Coach Brittany), and Matt Heinemann. The stated goal of the founder is to provide a safe and welcoming space for all ages and experience levels to enjoy the art of learning Jiu-Jitsu.
