About
Hwang’s ATA Martial Arts offers ATA Tigers classes, Karate 4 Kids classes, Teen Martial Arts, Adult Martial Arts, and Taekwondo demonstrations. The program includes confidence building martial arts classes, certified and safe instruction, and high quality physical and mental training. It also offers a fun, yet structured program for young children that builds motor skills while increasing safety, awareness, and discipline.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Saturday, generally afternoons and evenings on weekdays and morning to early afternoon on Saturdays
The kids program allows children to channel their social energy into leadership capabilities, and the adult program focuses on enhancing mobility through martial arts concepts. Personal development is at the core of the training, which teaches life skills like confidence, discipline, and focus. The program includes a Leadership component that integrates conditioning and self-defense with teaching discipline and provides opportunities for students to gain skills such as public speaking, improved self-awareness, and instilling initiative. The program describes confidence as not just for anti-bullying, but for life, and notes that classes are invigorating and mentally stimulating, including for parents watching in the lobby. A free trial lesson is available.
Each instructor has passed a background check and a certification process described as the most comprehensive of all major professional martial arts organizations, based on 50 years of tradition, research, and development. The leadership team includes Ken Hwang, whose 30+ years of dedication to the arts has given him the opportunity to deeply understand martial arts concepts, and Mr. Yi, who began his teaching career over 30 years ago and made a commitment to his community to foster an enjoyable environment for students to improve fitness while building confidence. The stated mission is to help parents raise confident leaders and help adults reach their true potential, with a mission that has always been creating leaders.
The program’s community involvement includes instructors introducing children to helping teach martial arts classes and volunteering outside the studio. Activities have included a collaborative Taekwondo demonstration with the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County at the All Abilities Celebration at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and a Thanksgiving activity where the Youth Leadership Team gave back to local Anaheim Hills firefighters. Hwang’s ATA Martial Arts is part of the ATA network of over 100,000 martial artists of all ages, continents, and walks of life, which offers sanctioned tournaments worldwide, business networking, education for entrepreneurs, and scholarships for college students. Within this network, Jonathan Erickson was crowned 2016 World Champion in Little Rock, Arkansas.
