City of Anderson Parks and Recreation Youth Programs include activities such as Summer of Fun Playgrounds, Summer Swimming Programs, a Youth Basketball League, SNAP (Special Needs All Play), Senior Activities, the Famous Mosquito Serenade Concerts, and Kids Free Fishing Day. The programs also make use of facilities that support softball, soccer, boating, fishing, tennis, basketball, picnic areas, wildlife viewing, disc golf, hiking, and equestrian trails. An online registration program is available for park rentals and recreation programs.

The Anderson Parks and Recreation Department states that it is committed to providing a variety of leisure experiences to citizens, visitors, and residents of surrounding communities, with a goal to enhance quality of life through programs, events, and facilities while preserving and maintaining natural areas, open space, and native habitat.
