Antioch First 5 Center

Antioch First 5 Center offers classes, workshops, drop-in playtime, and Saturday classes for families. The program also provides child developmental screenings, car seat inspections, free diaper give-aways, and monthly events such as festivals, holiday celebrations, and cultural celebrations. Families can access classes for dads and monthly distributions of diapers, food, and activity bags, along with one-on-one meetings with staff and both in-person and virtual activities.

Antioch First 5 Center is a family resource center for moms, dads, grandparents, or other adult caregivers and their children from birth to age 5. The staff are trained in early childhood development. The mission statement is: “Where all families with young children in Contra Costa are welcome! Become a part of a diverse community where pregnant and parenting families connect, learn, play and grow together during their child’s first 5 years!” The leadership team includes Center Director Rhea Hodges, Community Resource Specialist Rocio Ceja, and Family and Community Liaison Monique Angara. The Family and Community Liaison is responsible for building and strengthening relationships between families, community stakeholders, and the centers, and Community Advisory Councils made up of volunteer parents and caregivers provide input to help shape programs and activities.
