Black Diamond Ballet presents Nutcracker performances that include a sensory-friendly performance, school-day performances, and outreach demonstrations. The program also offers dance classes connected to these productions. The 14th Annual Nutcracker performances are directed by Sharon Sobel Idul and feature exciting new choreography, costumes, and cultural dances in a classical ballet that represents and looks like the local community.

Black Diamond Ballet’s production of Nutcracker has been performed since its debut in 2009. Black Diamond Ballet is dedicated to preserving and promoting classical ballet through professional performances, dance classes, and outreach demonstrations, with a primary purpose of providing access with intentional focus on equity, representation, and inclusion through ballet to all in East Contra Costa County. Black Diamond Ballet is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed for educational purposes. Black Diamond Ballet works with local dance studios and dance artists in a collaborative dance gala called City of Stars, which is dedicated to supporting El Campanil Theatre and involves artists, studios, students, and professionals performing together on one stage. Black Diamond Ballet has been committed to providing audiences from East County, Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, and beyond with ballet performances.
