Main Beach Volleyball Club offers volleyball strength training, volleyball conditioning, and volleyball skill training. The program also holds volleyball tryouts for athletes who want to participate in its teams and training. The Rising Stars Spring 2026 Volleyball Program is for Main Beach athletes and includes these activities during March and April 2026.

Main Beach Volleyball Club was formed in Santa Cruz County in 2002 and was founded that year as a California non-profit corporation. The boys program was added in 2010, and the sand program was added in 2012. In 2016, the sand program split off to form the Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Club. In the summer of 2022, the boys club Kinnect Volleyball was formed and Main Beach became solely a girls club. Main Beach will once again be solely a girls club after the formation of Kinnect Volleyball.
The club’s mission is to provide a healthy competitive environment for all players and to improve the skill level of the athlete. Its mission also includes preparing athletes to compete at the college level and providing a coaching staff that is knowledgeable about the game and communicates well with players. The mission states that the club provides a high level of technical training through structured and disciplined practices, competes at the highest level through the NCVA power league and other competitive tournaments, and aims to qualify for the Junior Nationals. The mission further states that Main Beach Volleyball Club provides a complete and competitive volleyball club to meet the needs of the Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties.
Main Beach Volleyball Club was formed to provide a competitive junior volleyball program for local female athletes in Santa Cruz County and to meet the needs of the Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties. It is overseen by a seven member board from the local community who meet monthly. Main Beach has been happy to help launch the sand and boys programs to better serve the Santa Cruz volleyball community.
The leadership team includes Jan Furman as Executive Director, Branden Torado as Program Director, and Gabrielle Houston Neville as Administrative Director. The board officers are Barb McAteer as President, Erik Nelson as Vice President, Wendy Grande as Treasurer, and Meg Hall as Secretary, with Renee DeAngelis serving as Member at Large. Parent advisors include Melanie Kitchen and Rich Taylor. Matt Schultz is the leader of the boys program added in 2010. Mark Hull and Lucas Bol are leaders of the sand program added in 2012. Justin Bates formed the boys club Kinnect Volleyball in the summer of 2022. Both Jan Furman and Gabby Houston are Kinesiology instructors at Cabrillo College.
Main Beach Volleyball Club competes at the highest level through the NCVA power league and other competitive tournaments and aims to qualify for the Junior Nationals. Its volleyball programs have been instrumental in helping over 100 Main Beach athletes play volleyball at all levels in college. Coaching staff and players from Main Beach have continued their volleyball careers coaching at the Division 1, Division 2 and Junior College levels. The club has a focus on education with a comprehensive approach to volleyball that uses Gold Medal Squared as the baseline for instruction. Facilities, equipment and technology are used to provide a complete volleyball education. The club is a California non-profit corporation overseen by a seven member board from the local community who meet monthly.
