The Arcata Community Pool Learn-to-Swim Program offers American Red Cross Swimming lessons, including Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim courses, and school group swim lessons. Families can also arrange private and semi-private swim lessons. Program activities take place in a pool area with six 25-yard lap lanes, shallow and deep water sections, and a 1-meter diving board, and may include use of the waterslide, fitness center, hot tub, and sauna as described by facility rules.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes are 30 minutes, with summer sessions running Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks in the evenings between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, and spring Session 4 lessons offered Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday between 5:00pm and 7:15pm; school group lessons for ages 6 and up are 50 minutes on weekdays during the school year with a 5-lesson minimum.
• Price: Private swim lessons cost $40 per half-hour session for 1 student or $55 per half-hour session for 2 students; school group lessons for ages 6 and up cost $260.00 per 50-minute lesson for 1–24 participants or $325.00 per 50-minute lesson for 25–35 participants.
The Arcata Community Pool Learn-to-Swim Program is part of a non-profit government agency that offers year-round recreational and educational activities and has provided water quality, cleanliness, education, and customer service on the North Coast for over 35 years. These American Red Cross Swimming lessons teach people of all ages to swim and be safe in and around water. The Arcata Community Pool acknowledges support from the Arcata Foundation, Ford Family, Humboldt Area Foundation, Humboldt Redwood Company LLC, and Humboldt Sponsors. Discounts are available for families that receive benefits from Medical, Cal Works, and/or SSI Disability, and potential recipients of the subsidized swim lesson program must sign up in person and show proof of eligibility, including a valid photo ID. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all swim lessons.
