San Gabriel Junior Golf has been in operation since 2007 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth development organization serving children and families throughout the San Gabriel Valley, and the program has been running since January 2007. Its mission states that San Gabriel Junior Golf empowers youth to become productive members of society by helping them develop leadership skills through athletic achievement, academic excellence, and health and wellness, and also states that it empowers youth through golf by developing leadership, character, academic responsibility, confidence, and healthy lifestyles within a positive community environment. The organization lists 2,785 leaders trained, 1,378 satisfied parents, 21 awards won, and involvement of 15 PGA and LPGA members.

PGA and LPGA professionals are involved in the program, and the staff includes Jerry Herrera (President/PGA Teaching Professional), Lizette Salas (LPGA/Treasure), Ramon Salas (Coach), Eric Evans (PGA Teaching Professional), Pete Kenney (PGA Teaching Professional), Victor Le (Coach/Tournament Director), Mike Orefice (PGA Teaching Professional), Cortez Herrera (PGA Teaching Professional), and Nicole Le (Coach/Marketing Director). Program features include affordable year-round junior golf, leadership and mentorship development, academic tutoring support, tournament opportunities, scholarships and awards, a family-centered environment, a positive youth community, teaching life skills through golf, year-round training programs, and member exclusive events such as clinics with the pros and a 30-minute session with partners at Simulinks Indoor Simulator, as well as welcome bags given later in the year.

Community involvement includes community service programs, golfing with the Veterans, and volunteering at the Blind Kids Academy. Parent testimonials describe it as “The best junior golf program in San Gabriel Valley,” and mention that coaches are “teaching our youth more than just golf” through activities like golfing with Veterans and volunteering at the Blind Kids Academy, that coaches “really” want to grow the game and give children more opportunities for college and their future, and that children have enjoyed being involved in the program. Other parents describe it as an “awesome program” with “great staffs,” “like a big family,” and note that staff are “great with kids” and that it is “only $2 to join,” and one parent states that the program helps with “mannerisms, culture, respect, and much more.” Another parent of an 8-year-old reports that their child’s progress, growth, and love for the game has been a direct reflection of San Gabriel Junior Golf, and that their child has found a sense of community while being supported by the coaching staff.
