About

Evolution Basketball Club offers AAU Club Basketball league teams, Winter Skills Clinics, 1-on-1 private training, semi-private group training, team training, Elite Summer Camp, and additional Summer Camps that include Basketball & All Sports. Each team practices twice a week and participates in at least four tournaments, totaling 12–16 games over the course of a season. Families joining for the first time are asked to complete and submit a Liability Waiver, select the season, and choose a Nike uniform as part of registration.

• Schedule: Year-round club basketball and private training with seasonal sessions in spring (March 7–May 3), summer part one (May 4–June 28), summer part two (July 6–August 22), fall (September 3–November 1), and winter (November 2–December 20), plus Elite Summer Camp 2025 sessions in June and July

The program’s stated mission is “Helping young athletes be the best they can be so that they can achieve their goals is our mission here at Evolution.” Evolution Basketball Club lists local partners as part of its community involvement.

The leadership team includes Founder and Head Coach John Schrup (also listed as Founder & Director and Head Coach of HS Adidas Gold), Assistant Director Dimitri Koutsogeorgas, Operations Manager Kristen Johnson, and coaches Andre Elhihi, Abram Guldech (15U and 16U Head Coach), Aaron Friedkin (13U and 14U Jr. Adidas Head Coach), and Sean Richardson (14U and 15U Head Coach). John Schrup currently serves as the Head Coach of the Varsity Evolution team and previously served as Head Coach for the Design Tech High School boys’ Varsity team, where over three years he led the program to its first CCS appearance and a PSAL Conference Tournament semifinal. Before that, he was Associate Head Coach for Foothill College men’s basketball, overseeing recruiting and player development, and earlier coached at San Mateo High School as JV Head Coach and then with the Varsity boys, helping that team reach back-to-back CCS quarterfinals. As a player, John competed collegiately at Notre Dame de Namur University and in high school was an All-League award winner who led his team to a league title and CCS quarterfinals appearance. In the summer of 2022, he guided his team to back-to-back championships at the West Coast Championship in Los Angeles and the Las Vegas National tournament. Assistant Director Dimitri Koutsogeorgas is described as having a combination of basketball expertise and interpersonal skills and draws on his experience as a former varsity and college basketball player.
