AYSO Region 108 - Belmont-Redwood Shores offers youth soccer programs where children play soccer in an organized setting. The program follows the American Youth Soccer Organization approach, including placing all AYSO players on new or “balanced” teams each year based on each player's skill level and the overall ability of the team. Each child who registers is guaranteed to play at least half of every game.

• Schedule: Soccer season in the fall, from late August into mid-November

AYSO Region 108 - Belmont-Redwood Shores is part of Area 2N, which includes Hillsborough, Burlingame, San Mateo, Foster City, San Carlos, Belmont, Redwood City, and Half Moon Bay, and Area 2N is part of AYSO Section 2, which covers Northern California, most of Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. The stated mission of the American Youth Soccer Organization is “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” AYSO revolutionized youth sports with its “Everyone Plays” and “Balanced Teams” philosophies. Region 108 states that it provides a safe, fair and fun environment for children aged 4.5 to 18 (K–12) in Belmont and Redwood Shores. Top teams in U10 and above have an opportunity to play in a regional tournament usually held the first weekend of December. Registration is initially online with in-person registration to facilitate the receipt of signed registration and waiver forms.

The Belmont-Redwood Shores Board is a group of volunteers, and the Board holds regular meetings and provides meeting minutes after the following month. Meetings are currently held via Zoom. The Board welcomes new members and relies on volunteers. The leadership team includes roles such as Regional Commissioner, Asst. Regional Commissioners, Treasurer, Registrar, Safety Director, Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate (CVPA), various age-group coordinators, coach and referee administrators, and other board and coordinator positions.

The American Youth Soccer Organization was established in the Los Angeles area in 1964 with nine teams. Michael Karon, President of AYSO, received the Stack Leadership Award from Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering. AYSO has partnered with Blue Sombrero to provide a new website, automated registration, and other enhancements. AYSO has a partnership with BEEUP Snacks as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season. Chicago Public Schools has a partnership with AYSO to enhance youth sports programming. The American Youth Soccer Organization and the US Center for Mental Health & Sport have a partnership focused on player and volunteer wellness, and the American Youth Soccer Organization and Northland Sports Alliance have a partnership expanding soccer programming in Kansas City.
