Carlmont Parents Nursery School

Carlmont Parents Nursery School is a parent participation, co-operative, play-based developmental preschool for children ages 20 months to 6 years. Core programs are held from August to June, and all programs require mandatory parent participation one time each week. Offerings include 2-day mornings, 3-day mornings, 4-day afternoons, 5-day mornings, Pre-K, Lunch Bunch, Flex Days, and Summer Camp in 2026.

• 2-day | Mornings — 20 months - 4 years old · Tues, Thu 9:00-11:30am · $350 per month · Teacher Julie. Child must be 20 months by Sept 1. Parent remains on-site during school until child is 2 years.
• 3-day | Mornings — 2-5 years old · Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00am-12:00pm · $550 per month · Teacher Denise.
• 4-day | Afternoons — 3.5-6 years old · Mon-Thu 12:30-3:30pm · $550 per month · Teacher Jill.
• 5-day | Mornings — 2.5-5 years old · Mon/Wed/Fri 9:00am-12:00pm, Tues/Thu 9:00-11:30 with Lunch Bunch 11:30-12:00pm · $900 per month · Teachers Denise and Julie.
• Pre-K — 4 years old; children under 4 may be eligible based on readiness as assessed by a CPNS Teacher · Mon-Thu 10:00am-12:30pm · $400 per month · Teacher Lori. Optional Early Bird Add-On: Mon-Thu 9:00am-10:00am for an additional cost; Optional Friday Flex Day: Fri 9:00-12:00pm for an additional cost.

About the provider

Carlmont Parents Nursery School was founded in 1961 and has over 60 years of experience. It is affiliated with the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools, the San Mateo Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools, and Sequoia Adult School. Parents are expected to attend parent support workshops about once per month, participate on a job team, and take part in fundraising efforts and opportunities.

• Lunch Bunch — 2-6 years old · Mon and/or Wed 12:00-12:30pm, Tues and/or Thurs 11:30-12:00pm · $50 per month · Flexible lunch period alongside Pre-K peers.
• Flex Days — 2-6 years old · Mon/Tues/Wed/Thu/Fri 9:00am-12:00pm · $150 per month · Families may add one consistent morning day from either the 2-day or 3-day class with no co-op requirement.

CPNS is a parent cooperative preschool and every family contributes to the operation of the school. Each family is required to work in the child’s class one day per week; only parents, guardians or family members are permissible participants. A non-family person may substitute a maximum of 50% of the days pending teacher approval and training. There are co-op buyout options at 25% and 50%. The school asks that you attend a tour prior to applying.
