About
Building Kidz of Berkeley – Toddler Program includes daily activities such as music, dance, theater, finger painting, pretend play, circle time, story time, art, and curriculum projects. The program uses a comprehensive, interactive, arts-integrated academic learning curriculum that incorporates a proprietary performing arts program with Broadway-style productions. Children are coached in math, literacy, self-regulation and control, morality, fine and gross motor skills, emotional expression, and socialization while being surrounded by music and the arts.
• Ages: 1–2 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm
The toddler classroom is described as providing an environment that fosters individual development and self-help skills, with age-appropriate educational materials for kinesthetic, audial, visual, and touch learners. The curriculum includes a Learning Through Life Experiences (LTLE) approach that uses real-life experiences such as emergency services and health and nutrition, and it focuses on language development using pictures, books, and basic academics in the environment. Following simple instructions is implemented through circle time, story time, art, and curriculum projects, and there is a focus on developing fine motor skills through fun and sensory activities. Monthly meal plans include nutrient-dense choices daily.
Building Kidz of Berkeley – Toddler Program operates under California License 013423757. The program lists a leadership team that includes Sabrina Bhandari as Executive Director, Ms Amel and Ms Ariana with Little Learners, Ms Rossy as Administrative Assistant, and Vineeta Bhandari as Founder and CEO of Building Kidz Schools. Vineeta opened the first Building Kidz school in Pacifica, California, in January 2003, and the Berkeley site was previously operating as Golden Gate Learning Center until it was bought and transformed into a Building Kidz franchisee in January 2024. The stated mission is to create a local community where children are challenged intellectually, become empowered and interested in lifelong learning, and engage in the arts to accelerate the development of their Confidence, Commitment, and Character.
The program includes enhanced security measures such as video cameras throughout classrooms and playgrounds, touch pad entry, and advanced parent communication provided by the Brightwheel app. Schools are sanitized daily, and comprehensive safety protocols have been implemented, and one parent testimonial notes that the facility is new, with deep cleanings every night and regular testing of teachers for COVID. Parent testimonials describe staff members, including Stefanie and Elissa, as helping a child adjust, frequent photos and videos shared through Brightwheel, and observations about children appearing happy and engaged. One testimonial states that this is a place many children call home, and another notes appreciation for a low teacher-to-student ratio and a structured day with fun activities.
Building Kidz Worldwide dedicates 25% of profits to helping underprivileged children at home and around the world through its non-profit, Building Futures Worldwide, which supports orphaned and abandoned children, children with hearing disabilities or vision impairment, and children with juvenile diabetes.
