About

Kitchen on Fire Teen Cooking Camps & Classes offers teen cooking camps and teen cooking classes that focus on hands-on cooking. Teens work with savory global menus and baking skills, including specific baking days such as Breakfast Pastry Day, Bread Day, Pie Day, French Classics, Summertime Pies, and Focaccia day. Camp themes and classes include Cooking for Independence, Knife Skills, Simple Dinner, and One Pan Meal, with students actively cooking along with a chef who provides step-by-step demonstrations and support.

• Ages: 12–18 years old
• Schedule: Three-day and two-day camps during week-long school breaks, one-day camps during school holidays, and summer teen camps starting June 1, with options such as Monday–Thursday Teen Cooking Camp Menu A and B, Monday–Thursday Teen Baking Camp, Tuesday–Thursday Cooking for Independence Teen Camp, and a 2-Day Summer Baking Camp
• Price: Teen Cooking Camp Menu A, Teen Cooking Camp Menu B, and Teen Baking Camp each $679.45; Cooking for Independence Teen Camp $529.65; 2-Day Summer Baking Camp $321

Menu A includes recipes from Brazil, China, Japan, and Morocco, and Menu B includes recipes from France, India, Thailand, and Turkey. Baking camp days cover Breakfast Pastry Day, Bread Day, Pie Day, and French Classics. Teen camps are hands-on, with class sizes capped at 12–16 students, and the kitchen is specifically designed for hands-on cooking. The minimum age for all teen classes is 12, and a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian before participation. Teens ages 15–19 are welcome to join almost any regularly scheduled cooking class on the calendar, and Family Friendly Classes labeled “Family” are available for teens and younger kids who attend with a parent. Students prepare class recipes in teams, are welcomed by an appetizer, may bring their favorite beverage, receive recipes via email, and then sit down to a meal.

Instructors are professional, experienced chef instructors, and the staff includes more than 15 chefs and nutrition consultants, each with unique culinary expertise and experience. The leadership team includes Chef Olive, Chef Gabby, Chef Matt, and Chef Gaby. Kitchen on Fire has offered team building and cooking classes in the SF Bay Area since 2005 and has shared its passion with more than 100,000 students in hundreds of classes and skills workshops, with a schedule that cycles through over 100 classes per year, each focusing on a specific skill or authentic cuisine. The mission of the program is to use whole foods and timeless techniques so chef instructors can inspire students to integrate healthy cooking practices into their home kitchen and lifestyle. Kitchen on Fire offers award-winning in-person classes and works with local partners including Berkeley Bowl, Monterey Market, Magnani’s Meat, and Monterey Fish.

For teen participation, a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian before class, and families are asked to share dietary restrictions in the food allergy section of the booking page so the chef can offer substitutions. One parent noted that a 15-year-old who loves to cook “is having the best time, loves the exotic recipes and is enjoying every bite,” and described the chefs as “both incredible” and the classes as “a great way to get kids to try new foods.”
